Tulips and Thistle Bed & Breakfast
Tulips and Thistle Bed & Breakfast is located in Truro in the heart of the Fundy Shore and Annapolis Valley region of Nova Scotia, renowned for the world-famous Tidal Bore. Located on 1.5 acres of gardens and mature trees in a quiet, park-like setting, ours is a rural environment with the advantage of being minutes away from the centre of town, with easy access to the Trans-Canada Highway.
Our location within the scenic Glooscap Trail allows our guests to use Tulips and Thistle as a base for delightful day trips. Visit historic Pictou, a vibrant and picturesque town situated on a magnificent harbour located along the Northumberland Strait. A replica of the ship Hector that brought the Scottish settlers to a new land is moored in the harbour at the Hector Interpretive Centre. Craft and art shops, museums, antique stores, flea markets and boutiques dot the waterfront boardwalk. The rugged Cape d'Or provides an awe-inspiring view of the Bay of Fundy. Enroute to Cape d'Or, pass through the village of Port Greville where art studios, craft shops, antique stores and country markets await. A short distance beyond is the community of Advocate and Cape Chignecto, Nova Scotia's largest provincial park, which is perfect for hikers. Travel to the picturesque UNESCO World Heritage Town of Lunenburg or the lighthouse and village of Peggy's Cove, which are a photographer's paradise. Guests may also participate in experience packages that include sea-kayaking, hiking, golfing, tidal bore rafting or birding.
Our accommodations include four spacious, air-conditioned rooms (queen beds) with ensuite or private 3-piece (shower) or 4-piece bath (one with Jacuzzi). A full, gourmet breakfast is served from 7:30 a.m. to 9 a.m. Our living room and sunroom offer guests a bright, cheery environment in which to relax, read a book, or converse with fellow guests. If you prefer, cable television, a DVD player with a selection of movies and wireless Internet are also available. Enjoy afternoon refreshments on the spacious deck overlooking several of the property's many flower gardens. A propane barbecue located on the deck is available for guests' use. Stroll along our magnificent pine trees or rest under the umbrella of our stately weeping willow. Bicyclists and motorcyclists are invited to use secure covered facilities for storage of their vehicles.
