Sir Andrew Macphail was born here in 1964. His father, a Scottish school teacher, and mother raised their ten children in this farmhouse. Sir Andrew was knighted for his contribution during WWI as well as his contribution as a Man of Letters. His best know work is a book entitled "The Master's Wife" and tells of their childhood on the farm. The fields are now woods with trails to walk through and learn about native plants. When you visit us at the Homestead you can try our homemade desserts or a light lunch. All produce is grown on-site in our Kitchen Garden. Guided tours are available all day by donation. We are down the road from Orwell Corner.
