Imagine you could go back in time and feast on great food in Fortress Louisburg times; well you can! After a day of visiting Fortress Louisbourg stay and continue the experience and fun at Beggar’s Banquet. We had a great time eating, singing along with the duo on stage (the live ones) and enjoyed a visit from Sebean, a colorful character who visits everyone at their table, just a word of caution for the women - hang on to your man – she’s a stunner!!
This really is a unique evening, you get to dress up in costume, enjoy a buttered rum as it was served in Fortress Louisbourg, sing, dance, make sure you join the dance at the end to top off the evening.
The food is extremely good, Gary raves about the lobster, the habitat steak was superb and with a buffet of salads, vegetables, soup and dessert you certainly don’t need to beg for a full supper.
If you want to spend the night, check out the 4-star accommodations, luxury ocean suites. We didn’t take the opportunity. As we travel with the 5th wheel, we strolled back to our campsite, ending a lovely evening.
While visiting PEI along the Points East Coastal Drive there is a great place to look for off the beaten path. We found it while staying at the Panmure Campground. In Lower New Annan on Rt. 180, 1209 Barbara Weit Rd., Lower New Annan on PEI there is a company producing fine art products for home décor and garden which are just full of whimsy, fun and some pieces I would class as folk art.
There is a price range for everyone and check out the “BugAway”. We bought one and it works!!
What a beautiful day to be traveling home. Much better than the ride up except that little old Bump in the Road. Well was it a bump or something else on the road? All we know is that it was a very expensive bump...
There was a flash to my left that caught my eye and then fear hit me all over. All I saw was black, real hard black as in rubber, in my rear view mirror. That could only mean one thing that I had less rubber on my tires and that is not a good thing. I Pulled over to the side of Hwy 105 about 25km from Aulds Cove
Here it is a holiday and where were we going to find help. I called the Irving in Aulds Cove which was where we were heading. They suggested I call Seaboard Tire who said they could find us some help.
Long story short - He contacted J.B. Mechanical who located and brought us out a new tire mounted on a new rim. He jacked up the trailer and replaced the old wheel & tire.
John Campbell the owner operator of J.B Mechanical got us back on the road in a couple hours.
If you ever need help from Cape Breton Island to New Glasgow nova Scotia this young man is well worth a try. He sure impressed us.
Thats J.B. Mechanical or John at 902-631-6176
OK - It is finalized. We head out tomorrow (Thursday) around 3 pm.
Look out Cape Breton here we come!
Fortress of Louisbourg will be our home for a day and we plan to visit a few other attractions as well this weekend. Many of them have listings on this site. We will be blogging and posting to Facebook and twitter as we journey on.
Wave at us when you see us or better yet drop in and say Hi. We have t-shirts for the kids.

Wow what a meal we just had at the Shore Road Seafood/Crow's Nest Dining Room. Karen satisfied herself with Scallops pan fried in garlic butter, while I pigged out on the sea food platter with Haddock, Scallops, Clams and great home cut fries. Despite the fact it was not a very nice night, and rain and fog kept us from getting some nice shots, we did get a couple of the inside of this quaint little Dining Room. "We will be sharing those with you in the next article."
The staff at the Crows Nest Dining Room were very friendly and the prices Very Reasonable. I would never hesitate to go there again, but I would make sure I brought a bigger appetite.
And now we have Karen in the dining room so you can see how quaint it is.

In about 3 hours we are off to Dunromin Campsite just outside of Annapolis Royal in Granville Ferry. We sure hope the weather holds off it sure looks like rain. We are expecting a storm but perhaps they were wrong..

Well what a terrible day to pack up and head for the South Shore. Raining Cat's and Dog,s.
We really have to check out Riser Beach this weekend and perhaps take in a Dinner theater at the Italy Cross, Middlewood & District Fire Department. We are told it is amazing. As usual Karen will be posting about our adventure after its done but if I can sneak in a Facebook post here and there I will.

Took an unexpected trip overnight to Moncton, New Brunswick for business. Didn't get to see a lot of Moncton but needed to comment on the Comfort Inn East on Maplewood Drive where we spent a restful night and enjoyed a hot meal in the morning for breakfast.
Important to us with 2 dogs the place is pet-friendly and they don't charge extra (one hotel we called wanted a $200 deposit and $20 per dog per night).
Staff were very friendly and helpful with information on where to order pizza etc. and everything listed on their website, was in the room which was clean with a well-laid out bathroom.
We requested a room on the first floor with a patio door that made it very easy to get our "girls" (canine ones) out for a walk. There was a quiet residential area just behind the hotel which took us to a park which was an unexpected bonus.
